A historical journey on homeotic genes
Keywords:
Homeotic genes, Drosophila melanogaster, mutation.Abstract
Homeotic genes are the first activators of the gene cascade that intervene in the formation and embryonic and anatomical distribution of living beings. Their discovery in 1894 has led to innumerable advances in: the study of organogenesis, evolutionary analysis and biomedical research. With the number of milestones and historical contributions that have been described since the discovery of these regulatory genes, this article synthesized and designed a conceptual and graphic timeline on the history of these genes; citing the most relevant events between 1894 and 1995 and the authors who made it possible.
