Abstract

One of the most used tools in modern biotechnology is the conical flask or Erlenmeyer flask. However, Richard August Carl Emil Erlenmeyer did not invent this flask for this use. Its invention was due to the need to carry out titration reactions, which are achieved by dropping a reagent (from a burette), but ensuring that the splashes do not fall into the hands of the researcher when shaking the receiving container and that is why its shape be conical. Erlenmeyer’s successful scientific life is a set of encounters with other scientists in his life.
