Bonnie L. Bassler
Intérprete del lenguaje bacteriano
Abstract
Son pocas las líneas de este escrito para describir todos los descubrimientos y aportaciones de Bonnie Bassler, una renombrada científica que ha interpretado el comportamiento bacteriano; pero a través de su historia se busca mostrar lo que conlleva una carrera en investigación científica e inspirar nuevas vocaciones. Bassler ha explicado que existe comunicación entre bacterias de la misma especie y con bacterias de otra especie; y que dependiendo de cuántas bacterias haya actúan de una u otra forma. La comunicación entre bacterias es a través de sustancias químicas, llamadas autoinductores, proceso que se conoce como quorum sensing.
