Materials to the rescue: Science to combat water pollution
Keywords:
Water contamination, materials science, environmental sustainabilityAbstract
Water is essential for life on our planet. However, human activity has caused large amounts of pollutants to reach freshwater bodies around the world, affecting both people and ecosystems. To combat this problem, scientists are developing new materials and technologies, such as modified bacteria for bioremediation, zeolites for adsorption, and photocatalysts like iron oxides to break down pollutants under sunlight. These advances seek to improve water quality and make cleaning processes faster, more efficient, and accessible for use in various regions.
