Bacteria and yeasts: silent allies of sustainable agriculture
Keywords:
Rhizobacteria, agricultural biotechnology, growth promotersAbstract
Bacteria associated with plants have traditionally been regarded as pathogenic microorganisms responsible for crop deformities, sterility, and reductions in crop quality. However, among these microorganisms is a beneficial group known as Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR), whose biotechnological potential has gained increasing recognition for the development of sustainable agriculture. Driven by the need to reduce the environmental pollution resulting from the excessive use of chemical fertilizers and to address the challenges posed by climate change, researchers have identified PGPR as a promising biological alternative for promoting more efficient and environmentally sustainable agricultural production.
