Bioplastics, an ecological option, but with major industrial challenges

This article addresses how plastic is a highly useful and economical material to produce yet carries a major environmental impact. It then proposes bioplastics as a viable alternative for partially replacing conventional plastic. Furthermore, it analyzes the most common methods for obtaining bioplastics and the industrial-scale challenges that limit them from being used on the same scale as conventional plastics.
