About the Journal
Revista de divulgación científica iBIO is a quarterly publication that publishes short popular science articles that have biotechnology and bioprocesses as their central axis. Topics include:
- Biotechnology: The use of living organisms, cells, biomolecules, and biotechnological tools to develop products, processes, technologies, or services.
- Bioprocesses: The design and operation of processes based on cells, microorganisms, or their derivatives to produce valuable products through biotechnological tools.
- Biotechnology Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, and Industrial Biotechnology: The application of biotechnological tools and engineering principles to the design, development, and optimization of sustainable systems and processes (from laboratory to industrial scale) based on living organisms, cells, or their derivatives.
- Environmental Biotechnology: Biotechnology focused on the prevention, monitoring, and remediation of environmental problems.
- Pharmaceutical, Medical, and Biomedical Biotechnology: The design and production of technologies, medicines, vaccines, therapies, replacement tissues and organs, molecular diagnostics, and therapeutic products for human health applications using biotechnological techniques.
- Food and Nutritional Biotechnology: The application of microorganisms, enzymes, and biotechnological processes in the production, improvement, preservation, and safety of food, including food fermentation and the development of functional ingredients.
- Agricultural Biotechnology: The application of biotechnology to improve crops, soils, and agricultural production systems, encompassing crop genetic improvement, biofertilizers, biopesticides, and sustainable agriculture.
- Molecular Biotechnology: The use of molecular and genetic techniques for the study, modification, and utilization of organisms and biomolecules.
- Nanobiotechnology: The intersection of nanotechnology and biotechnology for the development of materials and devices with medical, environmental, industrial, and other applications.
- Computational Biotechnology and Bioinformatics: The application of computational tools for the analysis of biological data and the development of biotechnological solutions.
- Synthetic Biology: The design and modification of biological systems through genetic engineering and biotechnology tools.
Collaborations are received from technicians, researchers, administrators, students, representatives of scientific-based companies, popularizers and scientific journalists from any national or international institution.
The editors will consider articles for publication based on their current relevance to biotechnology and bioprocesses, their contribution to the dissemination of scientific work and their ability to communicate in a brief and understandable way for an audience at the high school and undergraduate levels. All articles will be subject to peer review.
Revista de divulgación científica iBIO maintains a continuous submission system for manuscripts, allowing contributions to be submitted at any time throughout the year. Likewise, the journal follows a continuous publication model, through which accepted articles are published as soon as they complete the editorial process.
